Help Your Parents: Support a Smooth Transition to School
Reduce staff workload • Improve parent relationships • Support better outcomes
THE HAND: Design-thinking workshops for school–parent collaboration
Co-create solutions. Rebuild trust. Move forward together.
Tired of the same parent-school cycle?
You hold a meeting.
You explain the policy.
You listen (again) to the frustration.
You leave feeling… stuck.
🌀 The same issues come up again and again.
🧱 Parents feel like they’re not being heard.
😤 Staff feel attacked, not supported.
👎 Nothing changes—and relationships get worse.
Here’s the problem:
Most parent-school conversations are reactive.
They’re about what’s gone wrong—not how to make things better.
What if we flipped that?
What if parents and staff came together to solve problems collaboratively, not defensively?
Introducing:
🛠️ Design-Thinking Sessions for School–Family Problem Solving
Facilitated, structured workshops that bring parents and school staff together to:
✔ Identify shared challenges
✔ Build empathy and mutual understanding
✔ Generate fresh ideas and real solutions
✔ Restore trust and shared purpose
These are not consultations, forums or complaints meetings.
They are co-creation labs—with structure, warmth, and momentum.
How It Works
🧠 Discover
We begin with carefully facilitated conversations to uncover pain points on both sides. Parents and staff are encouraged to speak honestly—without judgement or pressure.
❤️ Empathise
We build shared understanding of what each group is trying to achieve—and where things are getting lost in translation.
🔄 Ideate + Prototype
We collaboratively generate solutions—small and large—that can be tested and refined in real life. These are grounded in the real constraints schools face, and the real concerns families hold.
✅ Agree Actions + Next Steps
We finish by agreeing what to try, who will do what, and how to follow up. Everyone leaves knowing their voice mattered—and their ideas made it into the plan.
When to Use This Offer
This is ideal for schools that are:
🔸 Facing a breakdown in trust with part of the parent community
🔸 Navigating a tricky change (e.g., new behaviour policy, restructure, leadership transition)
🔸 Wanting to move away from fire-fighting and into future-facing work
🔸 Ready to shift culture—not just communication
